IVS NGeCall (Tier I) is NOW AVAILABLE:

Completing the range of NGeCall test products that Cestel has been offering in response to the interest shown in these types of solutions by PSAPs, MNOs, and integrators—particularly in view of the new regulations coming into force on January 1st, 2026—we are pleased to announce that the IVS NGeCall device (Tier I ) is now available for commercial release, completing the full suite of test tools.

This device enables an NGeCall to be made over VoLTE/VoNR networks, in the same way that IVS units in type-approved vehicles will do from 2026 onward, thereby allowing a true end-to-end test to ensure that both the operator’s network and the PSAP’s final equipment function correctly.

The device is extremely easy to operate via a mobile app, making it simple to perform this type of test in any environment or situation.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

check

What is NG-eCall and how does it differ from traditional eCall?

NG-eCall is the evolution of the automatic emergency call system, adapted to 4G/5G and IMS networks. Unlike traditional eCall, which is based on 2G/3G networks, NG-eCall significantly reduces the time needed to transmit the Minimum Set of Data (MSD), expands vehicle location information, and allows the future addition of other types of content besides voice, such as video.

check

Why is it necessary to migrate from eCall to NG-eCall?

The European Union has mandated the transition to NG-eCall due to the progressive shutdown of 2G and 3G networks and the need for faster and more accurate systems. Failure to upgrade carries the risk of not receiving emergency calls with complete or real-time data, which affects response efficiency, in addition to non-compliance with a European Commission mandate and its associated consequences.

check

What is an IP emergency call and how does it work in NG-eCall?

An IP emergency call is a communication that uses next-generation networks (4G, 5G, and IMS) to transmit voice and data simultaneously to an emergency center (PSAP). NG-eCall sends a Minimum Set of Data (MSD) along with the voice call, increasing the amount of information and reducing response times.

check

What data does NG-eCall transmit to emergency centers?

In addition to the Minimum Set of Data (MSD)—which includes location, time of the accident, number of passengers, and vehicle type—it can send previous location positions and other technical data according to the MSD v3 standard, as well as optional data such as those defined in Euro NCAP TB 040 (crash sensor data).

check

What advantages does NG-eCall offer a 112 PSAP?

● Compliance with a European Commission mandate
● More precise location through position deltas, which were previously optional
● Compatibility with 4G/5G networks and VoLTE
● Ability to use communication channels that support other media (video, RTT, etc.)
● Reduced emergency response times.

check

How is NG-eCall integrated into an existing emergency center?

Integration is done via an NG-eCall decoder and, optionally, a simulator for testing. These devices connect to the PSAP system, ensuring compatibility with IP protocols and European standards. Cestel provides technical support and pilot tests for a smooth migration without interruptions.

check

Is specific hardware required to implement NG-eCall?

Yes, an NG-eCall decoder compliant with the applicable regulations is required. It is also recommended to have simulation equipment to validate PSAP data reception before actual deployment.

check

What regulations govern NG-eCall in Europe?

NG-eCall is governed by a set of standards, including RFC8147, EN 15722:2022, ETSI interoperability requirements, the EU mandate for the transition to NG-eCall, and, in specific cases, the EAA Directive on accessibility.

check

Can NG-eCall be tested before final deployment?

Yes. Cestel has IVS simulators and decoders that allow validation of data flow, voice calls, and system compatibility with defined networks and protocols. These tests reduce risks and avoid errors during implementation.

check

What happens if a PSAP does not migrate to NG-eCall?

Centers that do not migrate risk not receiving emergency calls from vehicles equipped with NG-eCall, which can lead to loss of critical information and delays in response, affecting public safety, as well as non-compliance with Directive EU2024/1180.

check

How does Cestel ensure the international compatibility of its NG-eCall?

Cestel develops its solutions in compliance with European standards (ETSI, UNECE) and participates in ETSI interoperability tests, ensuring that its NG-eCall works with any IVS manufacturer and in any EU country.

check

Can text or video communication be added to NG-eCall?

Yes. By integrating into the NG112 ecosystem, it is prepared to incorporate video or real-time text communication (RTT) in the future, improving accessibility and emergency management.

check

What support does Cestel offer during the migration to NG-eCall?

Cestel supports the entire process: from the initial technical analysis, installation, and configuration, to PSAP staff training. Software updates and specialized technical support are also provided.

Every year, millions of traffic accidents occur in Europe. Often, the speed at which emergency services receive information about an accident can make the difference between life and death. The eCall system was developed specifically to improve this aspect. ## What is eCall eCall is a system integrated into vehicles that automatically places a call to the emergency number in the event of an accident. The system is activated when the vehicle’s sensors detect a serious impact. ## What information the system transmits When an eCall is activated, the vehicle sends a set of data known as the Minimum Set of Data (MSD). This set includes: * vehicle location * direction of travel * vehicle type * time of the accident ## Benefits for citizens The eCall system reduces the time needed to alert emergency services. This can be especially important in situations where the vehicle occupants are unable to make a call themselves. ## Benefits for emergency services For emergency centers, eCall provides key information even before operators speak with the vehicle occupants. This allows them to prepare a response more quickly. ## Evolution toward Next Generation eCall The eCall system is evolving toward a new architecture called Next Generation eCall (NGeCall). This evolution will enable the use of IP networks and facilitate integration with NG112 systems. ## Conclusion eCall represents an important step toward smarter, more connected emergency systems. The transition to NGeCall will further enhance the capabilities of these systems.
