    WHAT IS NG-ECALL AND HOW DOES IT DIFFER FROM TRADITIONAL ECALL?

    NG-eCall is the evolution of the automatic emergency call system, adapted to 4G/5G and IMS networks. Unlike traditional eCall, which relies on 2G/3G networks, NG-eCall significantly reduces the transmission time of the Minimum Set of Data (MSD), expands the information related to vehicle location, and allows the addition of other types of content beyond voice in the future, such as video.

    WHY IS IT NECESSARY TO MIGRATE FROM ECALL TO NG-ECALL?

    The European Union has mandated the transition to NG-eCall due to the progressive shutdown of 2G and 3G networks and the need for more accurate and faster systems. Failing to update entails the risk of not receiving emergency calls with complete or real-time data, affecting response efficiency, as well as non-compliance with a European Commission mandate, with the consequent implications.

    WHAT IS AN IP EMERGENCY CALL AND HOW DOES IT WORK IN NG-ECALL?

    An IP emergency call is a communication that uses next-generation networks (4G, 5G, and IMS) to simultaneously transmit voice and data to an emergency center (PSAP). The NG-eCall system sends a Minimum Set of Data (MSD) along with the voice call, increasing the amount of information and reducing response time.

    CAN NG-eCall BE TESTED BEFORE ITS FINAL DEPLOYMENT?

    Yes. Cestel provides IVS simulators and decoders that allow validating the data flow, the voice call, and the system’s compatibility with the defined networks and protocols. These tests reduce risks and prevent implementation errors.

    WHAT HAPPENS IF A PSAP DOES NOT MIGRATE TO NG-ECALL?

    Centers that do not migrate risk not receiving emergency calls from vehicles equipped with NG-eCall, which can lead to loss of critical information and response delays, impacting public safety as well as non-compliance with Directive EU2024/1180.

    HOW IS THE INTERNATIONAL COMPATIBILITY OF CESTEL'S NG-ECALL ENSURED?

    Cestel develops its solutions following European standards (ETSI, UNECE) and participating in ETSI interoperability tests, ensuring that its NG-eCall works with any IVS manufacturer and in any EU country.
